Sea's Dances

1. Swing
Sea started with Lindy Hop in 2016, falling in love with the dance almost immediately and doing as many classes as he could (for a period of time, this was more than 8 hours a week!). After less than a year Sea was approached by SwingZing (swingzing.com) to join their troupe, a performance group called "Rhythm Riot". Weekly training sessions at troupe significantly expedited learning and development, and after a couple of months, mid-2017, Sea started teaching Lindy Hop for Swing Zing. After two years, in 2018, Sea was learning Balboa and in 2019 he was teaching. Balboa is Sea's favourite dance because of the technical skill required, the music (fast swing!), and the adaptability of the dance to the music.
2. Argentine Tango and Milonga
In 2022 Sea started learning Argentine Tango. It is the most difficult learning endeavour he has ever encountered, the most challenging dance to learn, but also the most rewarding. Argentine Tango requires finesse and knowledge of poly-rhythm, two items that belong in a dancer's repertoir! Sea believes that Milonga shares numerous similarities to Balboa, making it his second and third favourite dance (Argentine Tango and Milonga), and by repurposing Milonga techniques Sea is cementing his own style in Balboa.
3. Kizomba
Sea has taken a few terms of Kizomba starting in 2019 with Hannah Melder and then with Kizomba Nights. Sea really enjoys the creativity of the dance and the music that comes with it.
4. Rockabilly
Sea took a term's worth of classess of Rockabilly in 2020 in Padbury. He loves the music and speediness of the dance!
5. West Coast Swing
Sea was looking for a new challenge, so in 2021 he started classes with Dance Amanda. He is looking forward to travelling, competing, and learning heaps more about this modern lindy evolution.
